Game development/ Programming history

2020 – Present

I am in my final year of studying for a BA in game design.
Throughout my university journey, my primary focus has been on game development and programming, refining my skills in creating engaging and functional games. Working extensively with Click team Fusion, I crafted multiple games, gaining a solid understanding of gaming fundamentals and honing my ability to create practical and playable prototypes.

In my second year, I delved into game industry methodologies, collaborative practices, and project management, becoming adept at navigating the digital game production process. Collaborating in small teams, we applied scrum methodologies, effectively managing tasks and adhering to deadlines to deliver a cohesive product.

The programming module centred around Python equipped me with problem-solving skills crucial for game development. From mastering algorithms to writing game scripts, I learned to handle strings, Booleans, variables, operators, and user input – essential elements for creating robust and efficient game systems.

The game engine module provided a platform to enhance my game production skills. Utilising Unity and Unreal engine, I delved into 3D game development, learning to work in 3D space and create interactive experiences. Strengthening my programming skills, I incorporated C# and source code into my toolkit, enabling me to add new features, solve complex problems, and meet tight deadlines.

In my third year, I further expanded my skills by working with Unity and Unreal Engine and exploring C programming languages. This advanced exploration included tackling challenges in multiplayer functionality, procedural generation, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and artificial intelligence (AI). This diverse experience has expanded my technical expertise and broadened my understanding of the possibilities within the gaming industry.

Having participated in various game jams, I’ve honed my ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively within a team. Adopting scrum methodologies and version control has strengthened my time-keeping skills and reinforced my commitment to delivering high-quality games within specified timelines.
